One of you second years asked me on Monday if I could be a little clearer on the whole “You can only tell the patient is cyanosed if they have enough haemoglobin, and not too much either” thing.

In the West, we don’t think about taking a breath, but some cultures put great focus and attention on the act of breathing.  Try out some yoga, and control your breathing:

Anxiety and hyperventilation cause interesting effects on regional blood flow, the affinity of haemoglobin for oxygen, and, of course, the acid base balance of blood.
