The next oxygen education training day is 28th August in Ninewells. The session begins at 1pm, with a lecture regarding the new oxygen guidelines from a local oxygen champion. Following this there will be workshops and lectures on oxygen humidification, and oxygen delivery devices.

New Downloads Page

August 5, 2009

I’ve added in a new page at the top there.  The “Useful Downloads” page has links to download the oxygen prescription sticker, the CTPA request sticker, the chest drain insertion care bundle, and the oxygen guideline.

I will put up more downloads once I have a minute or two.  If you have a request, please let me know and I’ll see what I can dig up.

2009 Asthma Guideline Update

July 24, 2009

The British Thoracic Society recently updated their May 2008 Asthma Guideline. The changes centre around:

* Introduction of SMART therapy as an option in selected Step 2 patients
* Reinforcement of the importance of standard therapy in pregnancy
* A review of inhaler devices showing no change to previous recommendations
* Changes to the treatment of acute asthma

To download the revised guideline, visit the BTS website, or click here

The Tayside asthma guidance will be altered accordingly in due course.
