How the hospital works

I spent an couple of hours or so teaching DundeeApples today.  We were going to focus on acute kidney injury, but before we started we talked for some time about the organisation of the doctors on the wards, how the medical cover is provided, hospital at night, how doctors get paid, that sort of thing.  I don’t think that this is taught to the medical students at any point.  I wonder if the first time the brand new FY1s get to know about H@N, banding, pay levels, how the hospital works, is the first day of work…..
